Braking Systems

Improving your braking system, alongside your suspension upgrades, is one of the most important modifications to make and probably one of the most overlooked on road cars.

AtomicRex braking systems

When increasing power the brakes soon become the weak point in the system, and will very quickly become over worked and underperform.

We can offer a full range of applications and systems for your vehicle from simple pad and disc upgrades to full system including larger callipers, discs and pedal boxes tailor made to your vehicle.

Pads

Ferodo racing brake pads are designed for low and high speed braking efficiency. This reduces stopping distances and gives the consistent brake pedal feel that performance drivers require first and every time. The pads are available in several compounds but we recommend the DS2500 and DS3000 for the majority of applications.

The DS2500 racing brake pads represent a new generation of friction material that's low in compressibility, ensuring a firm pedal while providing great disc and pad life.

These pads were developed with characteristics that make them perfect for track days as well as fast road applications, including a consistent coefficient of friction (0.50) at any temperature, providing very predictable braking and great pedal modulation.

Combined with low wheel dusting and good noise characteristics, this product is the brake pad for the driver who needs the highest track-day braking performance.

The DS3000 has set the braking standard in touring car and GT championships worldwide since 1998.

These pads were developed with characteristics that make them perfect for race applications, including a very high coefficient of friction (0.62) at high speeds and temperatures. They provide a high initial bite with a reduced bedding in time (approximately 50 percent quicker than other materials).

Combined with low wheel dusting and good noise characteristics, this product is the brake pad for the driver who needs the highest race braking performance. We do add that these pads are not suitable for road use.

Discs

Tarox have been at the forefront of brake technology for over 30 years with involvement in Formula 1. For fast road and occasional track use we recommend the Tarox range of replacement OE Grooved and Vented Discs.

Lines

We recommend the replacement of the lines to prevent swelling of the standard OE Rubber lines, as this improves brake feel and efficiency and reduces pedal travel.

We offer Viper OE lines in a range of colours, also offer Goodridge lines in either kit form or readymade. These can be linked to the standard hard lines or completely replaced to use with our range of pedal boxes.

Fluids

Changing the fluid regularly is critical as brake fluid is hydroscopic and therefore takes on water through moisture. This lowers the boiling point and increases fade. We recommend Sunoco R5.1 Fluid for the road, and R600+ for motorsport applications.

There are two main attributes, when comparing different products, to look for. These are the Wet and Dry Boiling Point. Although the dry boiling point is releveant, the more important of the two attributes is the Wet Boiling Point as this represents the point at which the fluid will boil once it has absorbed moisture.

Pedal boxes

We have a range of pedal boxes to replace the master cylinder/servo and ABS. These come compete with twin master cylinders and bias bar with remote billet adjuster. We highly recommend this for both track and race use as it allows you to optimize your braking to any conditions.

Calliper and Disc upgrades

Range of AtomicRex billet callipers that are designed to dissipate the heat more efficiently and increase the pad contact patch. We will advise on the size of disc necessary to fit the application and intended wheel size. The kits come complete with all fittings including brackets.
